We Need a Lifeline — Please Help Us Keep Saving Lives. 

Mutt Luv Rescue has been powered by nothing more than LUV, grit, and an unwavering belief that every dog deserves a chance. We are a foster-and-donation-based, volunteer-run rescue, and every life we save is because someone in our community cared enough to stand with us. But today, we’re standing at a crossroads we never thought we’d face. 

Our bank account is in the negative. Our shelves are empty. And for the first time, we cannot pay the bills that keep our dogs safe. 

This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about lives depending on us. Right now, we’re responsible for 15–20 dogs, with another 5–10 arriving in the coming weeks. These dogs rely on us for food, shelter, vet care, and a chance at life. But we’re out of options, and out of time. Here’s what the last few weeks alone have looked like: $18,000 surgery for one of our puppies—after a previous $10,000 surgery and thousands in emergency visits. Another dog with an unexpected emergency and a $3,000 vet bill, diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Our senior pup is battling cancer with a $450 vet bill. A puppy awaiting a specialty appointment at UC Davis for potential neurological disease, ocular issues, or epilepsy. Ongoing wellness care: vaccines, spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick, and routine exams for every single dog in our program. Boarding bills for dogs who have nowhere else to go. Reimbursements we owe our fosters for essential supplies. Bills from our trusted vets who have been patient, but cannot wait forever. And today, no food. No toys. No supplies. Not a single bag left. 

All of this has fallen on the shoulders of our cofounder and rescue director, who has been covering rescue expenses from their own pockets, but now they’re struggling to pay their own personal bills. They cannot keep absorbing these costs. And they shouldn’t have to. We are doing everything in our power to keep going, but the truth is simple — We cannot continue without community support. 

Every dog we save comes from heartbreak, abandonment, neglect, medical crisis, or urgent shelter deadlines. When they arrive, we promise them this - A full belly. A life of comfort, safety, and hope. A chance at forever. But today, we’re dangerously close to being unable to keep that promise. 

Your Giving Tuesday donation does more than help; it saves lives. It ensures that every dog in our care has food in their bowl. We can pay for critical medical care. We can keep boarding spaces for dogs who would otherwise have nowhere to go. We can continue taking in dogs who urgently need rescue. We can keep our doors open. Literally, your generosity is the difference between saying “yes, we can help” and having to say “I’m sorry… we can’t.”  

We never imagined we’d be here. We never imagined having to ask like this. But the weight of vet bills, medical emergencies, surgeries, and daily care has pushed us beyond our limit. And, honestly, we don’t know how much longer we can hold on without your support.
